Thoughtful, honest, and open-minded. Willing to “go there” just so I can have the experience…and I have no problem sharing those experiences with you. Some may call me a bitch– the fact is, I can sometimes be what others term as “too honest for my own good”. If my unwillingness to sugarcoat the truth, if your ability to take my word at what it is without having to add a grain of salt, makes me a bitch, I say more power to me. This corrupted, lying, guile-filled society could use a bit more of my brand of “bitchiness”.

haiti-survivorAs I’m sure you’ve noticed, I have pretty much said nil in regards to the earthquake in Haiti (or any other natural disaster that has occurred in the recent past). There are several reasons for this, number one is because quite frankly I don’t bother with the news and as a result wouldn’t be the most well informed person to speak about it. A close second is because everyone and their mom has covered the quake from EVERY possible angle imaginable, so what would the point be of me simply reiterating what everyone else has said a billion times before in the past month.

The Medical Care System Sucks

medical-care-sucks-cemetaryI know I have been neglecting my blog for the past week, but in all fairness my medical issues (if nothing else…not even school :-p) have to trump blog priorities…at least sometimes ;-). For those of you who don’t know me, I have been having some intense abdominal pain that I am desperately seeking relief from. So far, I have been on a plethora of medication which manage to at least temporarily minimize some of my discomfort, and I now have a bushel of fruitless or pointless hospital and doctor’s visits under my belt, starting from the beginning of November with my walk in woes.

Seriously, until you are in dire need of immediate and effective medical treatment, you just can’t be truly aware of how entirely inept our medical system can be (more…)

Some people just need to learn how to accept “no” as an answer. Especially when it comes to dating and interest. Today we’re talking about friends. You see, on TV, in magazines, in bar conversation, friendships happen to be a hot topic right now, especially when it comes to the topic of platonic opposite sex friendships. While my experience should dictate otherwise, I am all for platonic friendships, although I am beginning to wonder what exactly it is that allows these friendships to flourish and remain tight. Hump Day Giggles

Wednesday IS hump day right? Well, no matter, here on Classic Ruby, it’s hump day!! And to help get us all through the awkwardness of Wednesday (nothing to do, sick of working, but too far away from the weekend to feel justified in partying today…not in the mood to go to work tomorrow, but can’t afford not to go to work on Friday as well because you just don’t HAVE 2 free vacation/sick days left, and lord knows after the holidays you can’t afford the missed wages…:-s) I’ve got a couple videos here sure to give you a little bit of a giggle! Grab some ice cream, or a nice cold beer, snuggle up in your nice warm flannel PJ’s, and enjoy! (OK, Alicious, since you live in the tropics, you can wear your itty bitty teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini and sip on some wine as you snuggle up in your pool! LOL).

1. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (BAFT) bans the word “refreshing” to describe any alcohol beverage.

2. A person can be sent to jail for five years for merely sending a bottle of beer, wine or spirits as a gift to a friend in Kentucky

3. Anyone under the age of 21 who takes out household trash containing even a single empty alcohol beverage container can be charged with illegal possession of alcohol in Missouri. (more…)
